Vitamin B12, i.e. cobalamin
We use the active and well absorbed vitamin B12 from methylcobalamin, which is considered the safest form for infants, toddlers, pregnant and breastfeeding women. Methylcobalamin used in the products is produced in an environmentally friendly way and it is the purest vitamin B12 form under MecobalActive® trademark.
Simple additive free receipe
Vitamin B12 drops consist of only three ingredients: water, methylcobalamin (B12) and a drop of organic lemon juice to guarantee shelf life. Products´ pink colour comes from methylcobalamin´s pink colour. In addition, pink colour helps to avoid underdosing (in case a drop is missed).

B12 content
B12 drops for infants and children 1 drop consists of 100 mcg of vitamin B12 – the smallest amount of B12 (methylcobalamin) in liquid form in Estonia. It is easier for medical staff to make dose guidelines and also dosing mistakes (under- and overdosing) are smaller. B12 drops for the whole family 1 drop consists of 500 mcg.
Absorption of B12
Vitamin B12 is absorbed around 2 mcg by active mechanism and in addition, 1% by passive mechanism through the whole small intestine area. In case of supplements, it is the passive mechanism that plays the key role. The active absorption of vitamin B12 differs greatly from other water-soluble vitamins: first B12 binds with intrinsic factor, IF, glycoprotein in the stomach and then gets absorbed in the final part of the small intestine, ileum.
